Flamco introduces a selecon of new products specifically designed with sustainability, eciency and lowering their overall carbon footprint in mind
The Flamco XStream effect sees up to 15% less energy consumption by the heating system, the introduction of automatic venting, less wear and tear to the system with a lower chance of a breakdown, up to 6% more efficiency from the system and the introduction for the first time of an ECO/MAX mode that allows the new unit to operate at maximum power to remove dirt and air from the system primarily during system start up, or whilst the system is being commissioned, before turning the system down to ECO to ensure constant activity but with a low resistance and pressure drop, that means the pump has to work less hard in the installation. XStream is available in three different units: Flamco XStream Vent, an air separator; Flamco XStream Clean, as a dirt separator; or as Flamco XStream Vent-Clean which provides both air and dirt separation in one unit.

As with all Flamco equipment, installation is simple, and XStream is equipped with a 360° rotating connection which makes it possible to install in horizontal, vertical or diagonal lines so no need to take into account the flow direction of the installation.
The XStream is supplied with an integral insulation jacket which ensures heat losses are kept to a minimum, along with an integrated service indicator which indicates when the Flamco XStream Clean was last flushed. With the XStream Vent, the service indicator shows when the system was last vented in the MAX mode. Thanks to the powerful internal magnet, the Flamco XStream Clean and the Vent-Clean are efficient at the removal of magnetite from the system. The magnet is designed to create an optimal magnetic field which captures even the smallest magnetic particles.

he removal of air and dirt is essential for a good and efficient heating system and the new XStream is a huge step forward in prolonging the life of a heating system through a guaranteed reduction in energy consumption and efficiency.
SideFlow Clean combines magnetic and bag filtration to effectively trap magnetite and dirt. The appliance is easy to install on a wall and is quick and simple to maintain and doubles as a dosing point.
The system water in central heating and cooling installations can become dirty, which can reduce the installation’s performance and cause wear or even damage. The SideFlow Clean from Flamco is an effective solution for preventing this. Magnets and bag filtration, clean magnetite and dirt out of the system water. The SideFlow Clean is suitable for installations in the commercial, industrial and utilities sectors, has a maximum working pressure of 16 bar, and is suitable for system capacities of up to 120,000 litres and system power outputs of up to 10 megawatts. Thanks to the ease of use, the SideFlow Clean can also be simply fitted to existing installations.
By connecting the SideFlow Clean to an installation, a portion – up to 10% - of the main flow can be diverted through the filter. The SideFlow Clean is constructed as a compact stainless steel vessel. The magnet holder has two fixed magnets with an optimal magnetic field that is focused inside the vessel. There is a focused magnetic field that minimises effects outside of the unit. Their power of attraction inside the vessel is so great that the two magnets, between them, are able to trap even the very smallest of magnetite particles. In addition, the vessel has a filter holder for use with a removable bag filter that traps solid particles down to 10 microns.
The SideFlow Clean is equipped with a bracket for mounting on a wall. This makes it easier to access the filter for maintenance purposes. The SideFlow Clean comes with an automatic air vent and a drain valve with hose connection as standard. Two pressure gauges also measure the incoming and outgoing pressure. Increased differential pressure between the pressure gauges indicates the degree of dirt saturation in the filter.
The screw-on top lets the installer easily remove both the magnet holder and the bag filter for cleaning or replacement. It is also possible, for example, to mix in glycol or to add cleaning or protection agents.
New generation expansion vessels
The Flexcon Premium range benefits from a new and unique plastic membrane, and offers raw materials and energy savings. Flamco has succeeded in developing a unique plastic membrane for expansion vessels of 2 to 80 litres. This innovation makes expansion vessels much more sustainable, in terms of environmental performance and durability, while maintaining high quality.
With Flexcon Premium, Flamco achieves an important sustainability aim. The manufacturer had an independent Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) carried out to determine and limit the environmental impact of its expansion vessels. With a global market in this product segment, every environmental saving achieved yields a large-scale result. The LCA showed that despite the already good environmental scores, significant environmental gains and extra life span were possible.

Tests showed that Flamco - even with the new membrane - does not have to make concessions to its most important quality requirements - high flexibility and low permeability. burned or recycled more efficiently into other products of the same quality than is the case for rubber.
The new membrane is much lighter, because it requires up to 50% less material. This saves raw materials, energy and fuel for transport and results in a large reduction of CO2 emissions. On one transport container of Flexcon Premium 25 litre expansion vessels, there is a weight saving of 997 kilos – leading to a significant fuel saving for the logistics operation. Flamco also saves a lot of energy in the production of expansion vessels. The new design hardly differs from the existing membrane, so Flamco can continue to optimise its production, producing and delivering the products more quickly.
Flamco has made the life cycle of these expansion vessels as sustainable as possible. Even the packaging and user manuals have been optimised. With this holistic approach, Flamco has taken a big step towards an even smaller ecological footprint.
