MAGDUO - Two-Wire fire alarm system from ESP simplifies installation for contractors
E
SP’s MAGDUO two-wire fire alarm system has been designed with small-to-medium sized contractors in mind, providing a flexible and adaptable solution that helps reduce installation time and overall project costs.
Two-wire fire alarm systems are based on conventional system technology but offer a more
streamlined wiring approach. Unlike traditional four-wire conventional systems – where detectors, call points and alarm devices for each zone are wired on separate circuits – MAGDUO uses intelligent two- wire technology. This allows all devices to be connected via the same two-core zone cable back to the control panel. By enabling a single circuit per zone for both detection and sounder operation, the system significantly reduces the amount of cabling required on site, helping installers save both time and material costs while maintaining reliable fire detection performance. The MAGDUO range currently comprises 25 products, including 2, 4 and 8-zone fire alarm control panels available in either grey or black finishes. Matching repeater panels are also available, with the 4- and 8-zone panels capable of supporting up to eight repeaters. A key feature of the system is the FlexiPoint detector, which can be programmed into seven different
operating modes, including smoke and heat detection. The range is further supported by a selection of sounders, strobes and manual call points, allowing installers to configure systems to suit a wide range of applications. With its adaptability, fast installation and cost-effective design, MAGDUO is ideally suited to small-to- medium sized projects including restaurants, retail premises, schools, offices, apartments and hotels. ESP is also offering comprehensive training on the MAGDUO system for wholesalers and installers.

Resideo Brings The Future Of Water Filtration To The UK Market
ebruary 2025 Resideo, a leading global manufacturer, developer, and distributor of technology-driven sensing and controls products and solutions for residential and commercial end-markets, announced that
its next generation of backwash water filters – first unveiled at ISH 2025 in March – is now available on the UK market. The new lead-free* range combines decades of experience with forward- thinking innovation to provide effective potable water filtration for every commercial building premises - at the same time as meeting the future requirements of drinking water regulations. In the UK there are set strict standards for drinking water quality, with the current maximum value for lead in drinking water set at 10 µg/L (micrograms per litre) at the UK consumer’s tap. However, the specific safety regulations** that German and European installers are navigating are the minimum standards for materials - including those containing lead - that come into contact with drinking water. In Germany, water management products that come into contact with drinking water must not cause the drinking water to exceed maximum permitted lead levels. Those levels are decreasing from 10 to 5 micrograms per litre from the 12 January 2028 onwards. This drive for change in water product materials is mirrored across the European Union through upcoming changes to the Drinking Water Directive (EU DWD). These changes set stricter limits for the maximum permitted lead content, which, depending on the material's composition, can be as low as 0.05% weight/ weight* concentration of lead. Although not yet mandatory for the UK, this latest addition to the Resideo portfolio ensures the UK can move
towards the same minimum standards as its European counterparts. Andrew Stokes-Roberts, Senior Account Manager at Resideo explained the significance of the launch:
"Resideo’s new lead-free backwash filter range has been developed and manufactured in Europe** to our high quality and technical precision standards. Our end-to-end control of the manufacturing process means we have robust quality assurance at every stage of production. This gives installers confidence that they are providing their customers with the right solution to help protect potable water installations and appliances, while also meeting regulatory requirements." This next generation of future-ready backwash water filters is setting a higher benchmark for durability and
reliable performance*****. Featuring advanced Impeller Technology across the range, the product helps deliver efficient, consistent cleaning that building services design engineers, public health engineers, installers and users can depend on. Additional key features include:
• •
F76S-LF Lead-Free Fine Filter: Backwashable filter with additional Double-Spin Technology (sizes up to 1 ¼”) to thoroughly clean all filter areas during backwash.
Filters may be automatically backwashed using the RR11S automatic actuator, which includes an additional BMS output signal to indicate a system error.

range of automatic water boosters, the tiny EsyBox Pop is a compact, all-in-one solution for homes where space is limited but water pressure expectations are high. WRAS approval means installers can be confident it has passed rigorous tests and meets the high standards set by the Water Regulations Advisory Scheme. Adam Ferneyhough, Country Director
for the UK & Ireland at DAB Pumps, comments: “Achieving WRAS approval for EsyBox Pop is an important milestone for us and for installers. It gives complete confidence that the product not only delivers strong, reliable pressure boosting performance, but also meets the required regulatory standards for use on wholesome water supplies. For contractors, that reassurance is essential when specifying and fitting equipment in domestic environments.” Small, lightweight and supplied ready to work straight out of the box, the EsyBox Pop can be installed
