BB’s work in the field of sustainability and digital innovation is being recognised in this year’s Instrumentation Excellence Awards. ABB is in the running with several nominations including for the
Sustainability Award, Digital Transformation Award and Industry Personality of the Year Award for Andrew Sheward, head of HSE and Sustainability at ABB Measurement & Analytics. The nominations underscore ABB’s commitment to sustainability and digital innovation.
With a suite of technologies that support industrial companies with meeting requirements in environmental monitoring, ABB is nominated for the Sustainability Award for its leading continuous emissions monitoring systems portfolio. Part of the portfolio is the ACF5000, the world’s first multi-component emission monitoring system using infrared spectroscopy. The ACF5000 can measure up to 15 components simultaneously with the highest levels of accuracy and reliability, including the lowest in the industry concentrations of gases from combustion processes. “ABB has helped the industrial world for decades to reduce energy consumption and emissions,” said Andrew Sheward, head of HSE and Sustainability at ABB Measurement & Analytics. “Our analyzers, smart instrumentation and digital solutions support sustainability goals through measurement.” With over 20 years at ABB, Andrew Sheward sees his nomination for Industry Personality of the Year as yet another recognition of the technologies ABB is contributing to sustainability. “This is a recognition of the fact that every day ABB empowers customers across the globe to optimise, electrify and decarbonise. Environmental performance is seen by so many organisations as an improvement opportunity, and we have the right technologies to support them.” In addition to emissions monitoring solutions, ABB is nominated for technologies vital for monitoring process performance and identifying potential scope for reducing emissions, such as instrumentation that generates accurate data and helps to make processes more efficient. ABB is also in the running for the Digital

Transformation Award for making full use of the latest digital capabilities and connectivity to deliver tangible benefits to customers. ABB is nominated for its Dynamic QR code solution which presents customers with dynamic real-time information about the system configuration, status and analyzer health of its gas analyzer systems. This supports easy communication that allows comprehensive product health checks and effective troubleshooting without physically connecting to the system, a great example of the digital transformation.
