FAST & ACCURATE TEMPERATURE MONITORING WITH ATC SEMITEC’S INLINE IN-FLOW COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSORS T
he TKS inline coolant sensors, from ATC Semitec, offer a neat temperature monitoring solution for cooling systems in the e-vehicle/ automotive industry. This temperature sensor is sealed directly into the pipe assembly providing both ease of installation and accurate temperature monitoring. Liquid cooling systems in EVs play an important role in optimising the performance of batteries and powertrains. Therefore accurate temperature
monitoring of the fluid in the coolant loop helps the thermal management system maintain the optimal operation of batteries and other components. Installed within the inlet or the outlet hoses, this sensor directly, quickly and accurately measures the temperature of the coolant as it flows past its sensing tip - providing a rapid response (Tc ± 15s) with a ±1% accuracy NTC thermistor as standard. They have a general operating range of -40°C to 125°C.
Alternatives such as clip-on sensors measure temperatures indirectly and therefore may not be as responsive or as accurate. These form part of a wide range of temperature sensors from ATC Semitec.

TITAN ENTERPRISES EXPANDS PATENTS FOR ITS ULTRASONIC FLOWMETER TECHNOLOGY
T
itan Enterprises has been granted additional patents for the ultrasonic flow technology used in its Atrato, MetraFlow and Process Atrato flowmeters. Most ultrasonic flowmeters can reliably measure fluids that transmit ultrasonic sound waves within a band around the speed of sound in water at 20°C. But if a fluid has differing acoustic characteristics the acoustic
operational window can be missed by the sensors. Titan’s Interface Software offered on the Atrato and MetraFlow overcomes this challenge. The software allows you to view the Acoustic signal of the measured fluid in real time and if required, move its position in the measurement window to ensure reliable flow measurement. The Atrato and MetraFlow are ideal for almost any low flow application. In addition, the Process Atrato, constructed from 316 stainless steel and PEEK, and incorporating Titan’s time-of-flight technology, is designed for use in demanding process and control environments.

GENESIS: THE BIRTH OF A NEW TYPE OF PROFILER
M
agnetrol’s revolutionary multiphase detector, Genesis, is a Time Domain Reflectometry Device (TDR) based level detector designed to accurately define and quantify the various layers in multiple interface level measurement.
Encompassing a number of significant engineering developments from Magnetrol’s progressive engineering team, this innovative level detector can deliver a full interface profile of a vessel with performance which surpasses many of the more traditional technologies.
Utilising patented “Top -Down” and Bottom-Up” signals, long with advanced level detection algorithms, Genesis can be deployed in a wide variety of interface applications ranging from very light hydrocarbons to water-based media. For example, Genesis can be used to define the multiple interfaces in a separator vessel (Sand – water – emulsion – oil – gas) with exceptional precision and can even identify the magnitude of any emulsion layer.
The device utilises pulses of electromagnetic energy transmitted along a physical probe. From a “Top-Down” perspective, when a pulse
reaches a surface that has a higher dielectric constant than air (r = 1), a portion of the pulse is reflected. The time of flight of the pulse is then measured via high-speed timing circuitry that provides an accurate measure of the liquid level. The amplitude of the reflection depends on the dielectric constant of the product, with a higher dielectric constant yielding a larger reflection. In addition to sending high frequency energy down the probe to detect upper (or total) level, the Genesis sends energy up the probe to detect various other levels that may be present; including the top of an emulsion layer, bottom of an emulsion layer (water level) and sediment.
