FINDING AN IOT PLATFORM AS A SERVICE [PAAS] THAT REALLY WORKS FOR INDUSTRIALS!

I

f you have an asset base that runs into hundreds, thousands or more and you

want to connect them to an Industrial IOT platform there are a few key questions you will need answering. For example: Does this platform really work? Whats the evidence? Whats the installed user base? What sort of comm’s protocols will it handle? What happens when comm’s are interrupted? Is it multi national [not just language but date stamping events, storage of data, and of course language as well]? What about Cyber security – is it hackable? Whats the evidence? And crucially how easy is it to configure, deploy and scale? And a host more besides! As you can see there is a lot to consider from the question alone and the key message here is not about the technical answers or ways of doing things but about the need to find a partner to work with you who “gets all this” and lives and breathes it, so you reduce your risks and increase your probabilities of successful implementation via an Industrial Platform as a Service. Take a look at our purpose video for more on how we work with our clients If you would like to know more about our Industrial IoT solutions and how we can help you monitor your assets, please call us +44 (0) 1905 754 078 and ask for one of our IoT Application Specialists.

CLIENT SOLUTION LEADS TO GAS METER TEST RIG FOR EVERYONE

W

hen a client approached Chell Instruments with a

specific challenge, our engineering team got straight to work. Using our industry leading expertise and experience, the ideal solution was developed for their gas meter calibration requirements. Now, a version of the Gas

Meter Test Rig (GMTR) we created is available from Chell for everyone wishing to test and calibrate domestic gas meters, including manufacturers and calibration houses. The GMTR is a multi-channel bench-top system that allows testing of the functionality,

accuracy, stability and leak integrity of up to four domestic gas meters simultaneously. It is compatible with older ‘diaphragm’ type positive displacement meters, as well as the newer ‘smart’ ultrasonic meters.

UK RELEASE OF THE NEW KIKUSUI PWR- 01 SERIES

T

elonic Instruments announce the UK

release of the new Kikusui PWR-01 series of wide- range benchtop programmable DC power supplies. The PWR-01 series are versatile instruments with models offering 400W, 800W, and 1200W rated power output with maximum rated voltages up to 650V. Equipped with a 4-times voltage and current variable ratio, making this one of the most versatile range of DC power supplies on the market today, the PWR-01 provides flexible current and voltage for a variety of applications. Variable internal impedance is a unique new feature that allows for various types of simulations suitable for automotive test and other battery-driven applications as well as solar-panel evaluation. The PWR-01 is also equipped with a soft- start function that limits the inrush current, minimizing any harmful effects to DUTs such as DC motors. The power supplies are also equipped with ergonomic power setting knobs, allowing the operator to control voltage and current independently, as well as front-facing banana plugs design for safety and convenience.

MODEL CMS300 CARBON MONOXIDE TRANSMITTER AND SWITCH

D

wyer Instruments, the preferred source for your complete range of practical and affordable

instrumentation, is announcing the release of the Carbon Monoxide Transmitter and Switch, Model CMS300. The Model CMS300 is ideal for monitoring carbon monoxide concentration in applications such as underground parking garages, vehicle maintenance facilities, and mechanical rooms. The Model CMS300 Carbon Monoxide Transmitter and Switch provides field selectable current or voltage output that is proportional to the carbon monoxide concentration of an area. An integral SPDT relay can be used for alarm conditions and is configured with preset jumper selectable ranges of 25, 60, or 150 PPM. The CMS300 can measure 0 to 300 PPM with accuracy up to 5% full-scale. It is housed in a UV resistant glass-filled polycarbonate enclosure rated up to IP54, which also features multiple knockouts to give flexibility to the installer to determine the best location for conduit entry.

ACTIVE WHEEL SPEED SENSING IN COMPACT AND DURABLE PACKAGE: NEW DIFFERENTIAL HALL EFFECT SENSORS SUIT EXTREME MOTORSPORT WHEEL SPEED MEASUREMENT TASKS

T

exense, the motorsports and aeronautical sensor specialist, has recently released two new differential Hall Effect (DHE) wheel speed sensors that ensure highly accurate

and extremely durable motorsports wheel speed measurement. Available with full support from sensor specialists Variohm EuroSensor, both VR09-B and VR-TA models offer a highly compact solution with IP66 protection and a very wide low-to-high speed range capability up to 20 kHz. Further similarities include parallel or right-angle orientation to suit varying tonewheel designs as well as an integrated LED to visually check function without using system electronics. The larger VR-TA wheel speed sensor is specifically designed for GT101 bracket compatibility.

The VR09-B is manufactured from a single block of aluminium for maximum durability. With an installation volume 25 x 9 x 9 mm (l x w x d), the compact sensor weighs only 15 grams and is easily installed with a generous tonewheel distance from 0.5 to 3 mm and a choice of orientation. The VR-TA version has a stainless steel and aluminium construction with a larger volume of 36 x 42 x 24 mm and increased weight to 32 grams. Both offer 4 to 25 V DC supply voltage and 3-wire electrical connection with a single NPN open collector output signal. Designed with high performance motorsports very much in mind, the operating temperature range spans – 50 to + 180 ?C and vibration/shock specifications allow arduous use up to 20 Gpp 5’/500 G.

Variohm EuroSensor supports the full range of Texense sensor products and offers custom modifications for electrical connection and mechanical mounting. The Texense

70

range covers pressure, temperature and position sensors with CANbus as well as digital and analogue electrical interfacing – all fully proven for demanding applications across professional and club motorsports as well as automotive R&D and many other sports and industrial measurement tasks where extreme conditions prevail.

As a designer and manufacturer as well as supply partner for many leading sensor companies, Variohm provides full technical sales and support for many other sensor technologies including its own range of sensor products and systems for linear and rotary position, load, force, vibration and temperature. The Towcester – UK based specialist works in demanding measurement applications throughout industry, agriculture, construction, autosports, research and more.
