Hazardous areas

intrinsiCally safE stEady statE bEaCon

BEKA associates have introduced a new low cost, intrinsically safe, steady state beacon which complements their well established intrinsically safe flashing beacons. The new steady state BA386S beacon is available with a bright red, amber, green, blue or white continuous output. It has an IP66 enclosure with an internal brightness control and is ideal for hazardous area process or machine status indication. This new BA386S steady state beacon has IECEx, ATEX and FM Ex ia

Honeywell’s BW Solo is a connected, serviceable, single-gas monitor with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connectivity. BW Solo provides real-time visibility into the status and safety of hazardous-area workers, helping companies respond faster and more decisively to safety incidents. Safety threats such as gas leaks can appear suddenly and unexpectedly, and studies indicate that workers often remain silent in the face of danger. A survey by the environmental services company Antea Group reports that almost half of all workers indicate they are uncomfortable about reporting workplace dangers. BW Solo simplifies and automates the incident reporting process

by connecting workers and supervisors in real time to provide near instantaneous updates of gas concentration levels and worker location. Workers and supervisors can stay in constant contact, even if they are thousands of miles away. In case of a gas event or other safety incident, this real-time connectedness can aid safety managers in responding faster to mitigate – or even prevent – safety incidents that could have potentially catastrophic outcomes. Key features of Honeywell BW Solo include: Comprehensive gas family: 14 sensors are available to detect

both standard and exotic gases Optional Bluetooth-enabled cloud connectivity and

certification and may be powered from most certified 24V Zener barriers, galvanic isolators or certified associated apparatus. It may be installed in all Zones and used with most common hazardous area gases. If slightly less brightness is acceptable, a further cost reduction

can be achieved by powering two BA386S steady state beacons from one Zener barrier or galvanic isolator. For further information including datasheets and certificates please

Explosion-proof flow ComputEr

Fluidwell’s E126 explosion- proof flow computer is suitable for corrected gas and liquid volume measurement. It measures the actual flow, temperature and pressure and converts it with an ideal gas formula to gas volume at reference conditions. It saves time, money and hassle; is designed to withstand the toughest conditions and is simple to use. Daily operations and plant operations for running work permit procedures are no longer interrupted and even (partial) plant shutdowns can be avoided as the covers do not need to be opened to operate, set and modify the display functionalities thanks to the through-glass keypad. This unequalled flow computer delivers user-friendliness in the toughest conditions. The robust stainless steel 316L E-Series housing is designed to guarantee

safety. It takes the E126 flow computer beyond the legislative requirements for hazardous areas. In the harshest conditions of punishing weather, desert and maritime climates and extreme temperature fluctuations, the durable E- Series consistently delivers accurate measurements. A solid die cast aluminium housing with the same ingress protection rating is available for cost-effective applications. The Fluidwell E126 flow computer is available from iCenta Controls.
