ION SCIENCE LAUNCHES PORTABLE SF6 LEAKMATE LEAK DETECTOR

MANAGE INVENTORY REMOTELY WITH SMART LEVEL SENSOR

I

ntermediate bulk containers (IBCs) are ideal for the safe storage and transportation of liquids – but they can be challenging for level measurement. They’re often located

remotely, and several IBCs can be scattered over a wide area. The Micropilot FWR30 radar sensor from Endress+Hauser solves these difficulties by offering remote access to the tanks to provide complete asset and inventory information, including measured value, ambient temperature and container location. IBC level measurement is easy to overlook, meaning missing stocks are often only

registered when the tank has already run empty and the production process has stopped. As the world’s first wireless 80GHz IIoT radar sensor, the Micropilot FWR30, combined with Netilion Value, allows you to access data from anywhere at any time, helping you to optimise logistics and storage practices.

Simplicity from scratch The wireless FWR30 is designed to be mounted on any plastic tank in a few simple steps. Commissioning is done by pressing a single button without the need for sensor calibra- tion and the small device fits perfectly on the exterior of stackable tanks without affect- ing their handling.

Data at your fingertips You can access the data from the FWR30 via Endress+Hauser’s app Netilion Value. It pro- vides an overview of your measured values, historical data and a map to track all your measurement points, plus alarms and notifications. The certified Netilion cloud service also meets all the requirements for security and data privacy.

High-end technology at a low cost The Micropilot FWR30 costs less than £500, including a year’s subscription to Netilion Value and a mounting bracket.

3 CHANNEL TEMPERATURE RELAY FOR RESISTANCE SENSORS

U

p to 3 sensors Pt 100, Pt 1000, KTY or PTC thermistor can be connected to the TR 250 temperature relay from Ziehl. One needs only one device, whether for a transformer with sensors Pt 100, with PTC thermistors or even a mixture of both. The TR250 from Ziehl simplifies your parts and spares lists. The TR250 is particularly versatile. It can monitor several

sensors simultaneously to a limit value or a sensor to up to 3 limit values and it can even measure the difference between two sensors. The TR250 comes with pre-set programs for motor and transformer protection make

commissioning particularly easy. The switching behaviour of the 3 output relays, monitoring working or quiescent

current, switching delays or storage of a switch-off is programmable on the device. This makes the TR250 suitable not only for the protection of electric motors or

transformers against over temperature but also for control and monitoring tasks in a wide range of applications. ZIEHL supplies further devices for 1 to 8 temperature sensors with up to 7 output relays as well as a range of electrical measuring and protection devices.

June 2020 Instrumentation Monthly

ON Science has launched the portable SF6 (sulphur hexafluoride) LEAKMATE leak detector.

The cost effective, easy to use instrument offers selectable sensitivity and automatic zero. It is ideally suited for simple leak detection applications on SF6 switchgear, service and maintenance in SF6 switchgear production and mobile leak detection on test equipment for differential pressure, mass flow, etc. The SF6 LEAKMATE features an audible alarm and LED bar graph display, allowing estimation if a small, medium or big leak is being detected. The instrument automatically compensates all ambient influences like temperature changes or movement of air. Intelligent control sets up the device appropriately for the ambient situation. It then uses the present gas concentration as its zero line and begins to look for even higher gas concentrations, which occur when a leak is approached. It is possible to determine leaks even in seriously contaminated areas.

TEMPERATURE METROLOGY AND BLACKBODY SOURCES ASSISTING WITH COVID-19

W

hen the coronavirus outbreak first started in China, Isotech was able to help with the demand for high accuracy temperature measuring equipment and supplied

large quantities of the milliK precision bench thermometer. In addition to clinical thermometry, Isotech blackbody systems are being installed to

improve the accuracy of fever detection systems. The Isotech Model 988 allows for a simple, cost effective solution for the calibration

of thermal imagers and infrared thermometers used at body temperature. The Hyperion R is being used to calibrate medical thermometers both in the laboratory and in the field. As well as the supply of equipment,

our ISO 17025 laboratory provides calibration services to a range of clients including the National Health Service.
