he Engineering Integrity Society’s Instrumentation, Analysis and Testing

Exhibition will be held on 13 March 2018 in Hall 3 at the Silverstone Circuit overlooking the race track. The event has been successfully running for over 25 years and in recent years has grown significantly to 70 tables with a steady increase in visitor numbers. The event covers a variety of industries including the aerospace, automotive, motor-sport, rail, off-highway, mechanical handling, industrial and power generation industries. On show and being demonstrated will be a range of products, testing equipment, transducers, data acquisition and analysis systems, and imaging systems. The exhibition offers engineers an ideal opportunity to meet face-to-face with equipment suppliers and to see and understand the latest technological developments in this field of engineering. The exhibition is free to attend, as are

the open forums, and there is also plenty of free car parking available at the site. With a complimentary lunch voucher for all guests, visitors have the opportunity to make the most of the exhibition and forums. There are also networking opportunities. Once again this year’s event continues

with a series of open forums where panels of renowned experts discuss specific topics and take questions from the floor. These interactive sessions have proven to be very popular and often lead on to one day seminar events.

THE LATEST TECHNOLOGIES John Tyrrell, managing director of TTS Systems, has attended the exhibition for many years and says: “I never miss the EIS Exhibition for the chance to see the latest instrumentation and analysis technologies in a friendly environment. Silverstone is a great venue, plus you usually get to see some racing cars as well!” Matt Hill of Saffran Landing Systems agrees, adding: “It’s a great event to explore technology cross-overs and advances in the field, along with developing networks to implement these.” The Engineering Integrity Society is a

long-established charitable society and consists of a number of associated groups comprised of experts from industry, each focusing on a particular area of fatigue, testing and durability, and sound and vibration. The society, which aims to

‘Seeing the ‘Wood for the Trees’; Making Sense of Analysis Classification Tools’: How to decide what data to collect? How will the data be used? How many channels to collect? How do you ensure accurate analysis? ‘A Comparison between the Input and Output of Signals using Different Systems’: The EIS has been involved in studies to compare the results from the analysis of a standard set of signals conducted by several different establishments. This highlighted differences in results which varied depending on the operator, equipment or both. ‘How Good is CAE Modelling v.s Test?’: There are often conflicting points of view between the modelling and test engineer, both like to think they are achieving accurate results, but often there are correlation differences.

inspire newly qualified engineers to embrace engineering as their chosen profession, is supported and sponsored by both industry and academia. As well as running this annual exhibition, the Society is committed to promoting events and publications, providing a forum for experienced and new engineers and students to discuss present industrial needs, new technologies and to stimulate both company and personal development. The most recent charitable initiative

includes a series of Young Engineers events which offer the chance for people in the early stages of their careers to meet and share experiences with each other and to discuss problems and get advice and guidance from experienced EIS group members. The EIS also sponsors the University of Wolverhampton’s Formula Student racing team which is now well- established and successfully competing in IMechE events around the country.
