FEATURE ENCLOSURES

Workshop videos shows enclosure installation S

pelsberg has released a new series of its workshop videos to demonstrate the capabilities of its range of GEOS enclosures. The

videos showcase the enclosures’ build quality, as well as a selection of installation accessories. This demonstrates that it is easy to mount DIN rails and PCBs and that the enclosures can be installed in the harshest environments without compromising ingress protection. The GEOS range of polycarbonate enclosures from Spelsberg has been designed to withstand aggressive atmospheres in outdoor or industrial applications. It features lightweight construction for easy installation and incorporates an innovative sealing design with a ‘drain protect system’ to guarantee ingress protection in even the harshest weather or when exposed to wash down environments. Chris Lloyd, managing director of Spelsberg UK, comments: “The GEOS range has been designed for end-users who require an enclosure that will protect critical systems from varying temperatures, physical impacts and ingress of moisture and solid particles.”

WITHSTANDING THE HEAT Small but mighty A

range of terminal blocks that can withstand extreme temperatures is available at Hylec-APL, the specialist supplier of electrical components and enclosures.

Steatite High Temperature Terminal Blocks are dimensionally stable up to 1,000 degC. They suit applications such as boilers, water heaters, cookers, injection moulding machines, and other uses where connections are required around heating/heating and hot water equipment. The Steatite High Temperature Terminal Blocks range offers robust ceramic construction with nick-plated brass inserts and zinc-plated steel screws. The range is available in two variants, with and without steel inserts. The standard range offers ten different models: two single pole versions to suit 4mm² and 10mm² standard conductor sizes with maximum current of 32A and 41A ; three 2-pole models, with the larger device suitable for up to 57A maximum current; three 3- pole models (32A, 41A and 57A maximum current) and two 4-pole versions (32A and 41A). They are off-white in colour.

Steatite Ceramic Terminal Blocks with steel inserts offer additional strength and

stability. Four models are available: a two pole and a three pole to suit 32A (max) current applications and a two pole and a three pole for applications up to 41A. Sizes are range between 15.6mm high x 18mm wide x 21mm long up to 23mm high x 29.5mm wide x 52mm long. The Steatite High Temperature Block family is RoHS compliant, VDE and CE approved.

idus Power, the technical power supply distributor specialising in solutions that benefit system designers as they seek to differentiate their end products, now has available a series of miniature, 3x5in PSUs that can deliver 250W when conduction-cooled or 550W fan-cooled and are approved for industrial and medical use. Using a two-level PCB construction, the new PSUs feature a baseplate with all the key semiconductors attached, allowing direct cooling into the system chassis, heatsink or cold-wall. With efficiencies to 92 per cent and the ability to remove heat to the outside world, minimal waste-heat is generated into the system and keeping internal ambient temperature rise to a minimum. The PSUs have a 90-264VAC input range and six models are available with 12 to 58VDC output, plus a built in 12V fan rail. Both industrial and medical versions meet EN55032 level B; the industrial unit is also is certified to IEC/ EN/ UL/ CSA60950-1.
