Residual current monitoring (RCM) for EV charge stations


RCMB121 is an AC/DC RCM sensor for EV charge station applications. The 18th Edition BS7671:2018 section 722.531.2.101 states that a type B residual current device (RCD) or a DC sensing component is required in all new EV charge stations to guarantee safety in the event of a DC fault current.


This proven RCM reduces the cost of developing electric vehicle charge stations, with a more cost effective and compliant alternative to type a B RCD.

Insulation monitoring technology for electric and hybrid vehicles


The IR155xx series of Bender IMDs is patented measurement technology which monitors the insulation of the AC motor and DC side of electrical drive and connected battery systems. This device continuously measures the insulation resistance between 0 and 10MΩ to detect insulation faults even when high system interferences occur.


Variants of the IR155 are used at an international level in Formula 1 and Formula E, Hybrid Buses, commercial vehicle and student vehicle teams.
