Tridonic announce launch of companionSUITE

T

ridonic is assisting luminaire manufacturers in the configuration, transmission and control of driver

settings. companionSUITE is a dynamic set of various software tools developed by Tridonic for long-term process optimisation, minimising production errors and enabling simple analysis of faulty devices. The range of software has now been expanded to include an analysis tool. LED drivers have a wide range of properties and functions, enabling lighting to be tailored to individual user requirements: Both the configuration of luminaires during the production process and the adaptation of settings for the respective application can involve the definition of numerous parameters. The customer is provided with a comprehensive on-screen overview of the properties and settings. The individual software components within companionSUITE are intuitive to use and web-based, meaning there's no need for installation or regular software updates. Data can be transmitted between driver and software using DALI, ready2mains or now also via Near Field Communication (NFC).

Smiths Interconnect Launches Lab-Flex® T Series of Coaxial Cable Assemblies

S

miths Interconnect, a leading provider of technically differentiated electronic components, subsystems, microwave and radio frequency products, announces today the release of its Lab-Flex® T Series of flexible coaxial cable assemblies. The T cable assemblies are mechanically robust and specifically designed to minimize phase change when subjected to a wide range of operational temperatures. This makes them an ideal choice for system applications under extreme temperature and environmental conditions such as Radar, Test & Measurement, and Space applications. The Lab- Flex® T Series currently consists of the 065T, 100T, and 160T cable models, which cover key performance characteristics at various frequency bands from DC to 50 GHz. Lab-Flex® T cable assemblies allow for minimum phase change while maintaining excellent return loss. Their special foam dielectric material provides a much lower attenuation than solid PTFE. Precision Connector interfaces meet MIL- STD-348 requirements and are designed for maximum frequency capability.

CENTIEL Grows Global Installed base of Leading UPS: CumulusPower

global installed base of its three- phase, modular UPS system, CumulusPowerTM.

L

Launched for the

first time in the UK just over a year ago, CumulusPowerTM known for its “9 nines” system availability and low total cost of ownership, has now been installed in datacenters and comms rooms in over 60 countries across 5 continents. More than 50 MW of critical power loads are now protected with CumulusPowerTM in locations across the world including: the UK, Singapore, Australia, Germany, Spain and the Czech Republic. Mike Elms, sales and marketing

director, CENTIEL Ltd explains: “Although a relatively new company, CENTIEL is a Swiss-based UPS

manufacturer whose team of designers have experience that covers the last four decades. They were responsible for the design of the world’s first three phase transformerless UPS and the world’s first three phase modular UPS. “As a result, the introduction of our 4th generation UPS CumulusPowerTM to the market place has been met with

unprecedented enthusiasm on an industry wide basis,” continues Elms. “The main benefit clients are seeing is the system’s class-leading availability of 99.9999999%. CumulusPowerTM has been developed with a unique Intelligent Module Technology (IMT), with a fault-tolerant parallel Distributed Active Redundant Architecture (DARA). The excellence in system availability is achieved through fully independent and self-isolating intelligent modules - each with individual power units, intelligence (CPU and communication logic), static bypass, control, display and battery. “In addition, the solution has been designed to reduce the total cost of ownership through low losses: the high

double conversion efficiency of 97% at the module level means it is currently the best solution available to protect data centre infrastructure.

ELLIS GETS TO GRIPS WITH PRODUCT LIFESPAN

new in-house testing technology that it says removes a major barrier to entry into a number of new industries. The North Yorkshire manufacturer, which exports to

C

over 40 countries, has purchased a QUV accelerated weathering tester machine that enables it to accurately predict the lifespan of all of its products; meaning they can sell them with a guaranteed lifespan. Richard Shaw, managing director of Ellis, said: “Up until

now we haven’t been able to guarantee a specific length of product life, which has proved to be a stumbling block when seeking to enter new markets – in particular when it comes to UV degradation of polymer products.” Ellis commissioned the unit in October, and has already

commenced a testing programme that will eventually catalogue projected lifespans for every one of its numerous polymer products.
