ISSUE 115 MARCH 2025 EARLY CAREERS GROUP

ENGAGING AND INFORMATIVE - OPTICA'S CAREER ACCELERATOR PROGRAMME NEDA BAKTASH, COHERENT

I recently had the privilege of speaking at Optica's first-ever Career Accelerator Program in Europe, held in Potsdam, Germany. The goal of the Career Accelerator Program is to familiarise students and early career professionals with the corporate world's culture, language, and methodology, as they plan their transition from academia to industry. It focuses on career paths and the professional and personal skills needed for success, bridging the training and education gap.

It was a fantastic and meaningful event organised by Optica and OpTecBB. I presented a talk about my transition journey from academia to industry as a lead laser development engineer. The talk received high praise and resonated well with world-class students and professionals, making it an unforgettable experience. Other speakers covered a wide range of topics, including project management strategies, challenges of project leadership, the pivotal roles of sales professionals in photonics, and innovation and product development procedures to identify new technologies.
