New additions are great example of hub’s success
T e team at award-winning serviced offi ce hub Vulcan Works in Northampton has welcomed two new local businesses to its community. Renowned apprenticeship recruitment and training provider
Starting Off has moved all 20 of its staff into one of Vulcan Works’ creative workspaces, and graphic design agency OYNK, which focuses on building sustainable websites and brands, has also taken a dedicated offi ce space. OYNK founder Ashley John originally planned to view a diff erent
building for offi ce space, but before he was off ered an appointment he found the St John’s Building at Vulcan Works in the heart of town’s Cultural Quarter. T e 39-year-old, whose passion is to make companies digitally
cleaner through design, said: “I was looking for an offi ce with character. I needed a space that’s diff erent otherwise, as a creative, it’s so dull. I wanted somewhere with something about it and this place is it. T e copper pipes, metal ceiling, beams and big windows, it’s got it all. “After speaking with centre manager Garrick and fi nding out
about the business support and the way that Vulcan Works cham- pions new business, I knew it was the kind of place I needed to be. It felt right straightaway, and I didn’t view anywhere else.” Katie Goodall, managing director of Starting Off , also had a
good feeling as soon as she arrived at Vulcan Works, praising its welcoming community. She said: “T ere’s always someone around and people are really
friendly at Vulcan Works. T e staff , Garrick and Gail, are always helpful, and I like the fact that everything is included, down to the tea and coff ee. It makes it simple, from a business perspective, to manage costs. “I also love that there’s lots of add ons, it’s not just a room. T ey
do great events and business support sessions, and the ethos behind the space was a really great fi t for us. It ties in well with our business and what we do.”
Since launching in February 2023, Vulcan Works has established
itself as a key part of the local business community, off ering unique offi ce space, business support, hotdesking and coworking opportu- nities from its base in the town’s Cultural Quarter. Not only has it provided start-ups and fl edgling companies with
business support, networking opportunities and skills workshops, it has also supported local community groups and businesses in crisis. During 2024, the workspace was widely recognised in both
local and national awards for the positive impact it has had on the community. T e 900 square foot customisable studios, such as the one Starting Off occupies, are suitable for everything from dance workshops and photography sets to training sessions, rehearsal rooms and offi ce space. Centre Manager at Vulcan Works, Garrick Hurter, said: “We are
immensely proud of the way that we are able to help and support businesses and organisations in our town. Starting Off and OYNK, are wonderful additions to our community and show what can be achieved here. “Starting Off is a fantastic example of how our creative
workspaces can be used for all sorts of diff erent businesses and be a really eff ective base and OYNK’s Ashley John is an inspirational business owner. We are glad to be a part of their stories. “T e community that we have built here represents all that
