Masterplans and urban extensions remain a prominent sector

Milton Keynes-based architects, GSSArchitecture, are continuing to expand on their masterplanning and urban extension portfolio in Buckinghamshire. T e practice has signifi cant experience in the

development and delivery of a wide variety of masterplanning exercises, ranging from small, often complex brownfi eld sites, through to large-scale projects of many hundreds of acres. With over 70 staff , the practice is well-equipped to design and deliver large scale plans with the clients’ needs at the forefront. GSS are pleased to announce that they are the

fi rst architects to be working on the initial phase of a new urban extension to the east of the M1 at Junction 14, which will lead to a major planning application to be submitted in December. The designs, commissioned by Ashe on behalf of Milton Keynes City Council, are for a new primary school and 39-place nursery which will be built alongside

a community health hub, designed around a major new public space, providing much-needed facilities for the new development and the growing community. GSS are also currently delivering the entire 11-

acre mixed-use masterplan at Olney Park, which incorporates industrial units, retail and fast food, a nursery, and later-living accommodation. Recently, the practice delivered the fi rst industrial unit which followed the successful completion of a new Sainsbury’s store on the adjacent development site. Chris Chapman, Partner at GSS, said: “We

are delighted to be involved in these important projects in the local area. Our specialist in-house teams have been working closely with our clients to deliver the masterplans and architectural design for these mixed-use schemes which will create new communities, providing jobs and education for the local people.”
