Cranfi eld University
Digital learning that’s the perfect fi t for business development
Cranfield University has built a reputation for transformative personal and professional development, working with clients that range from the business that wants to upskill its team or a department, through to individuals looking at building on and formalising their own qualifi cations. Graham Bell is Director of Digital Education, Faculty
of Business and Management, and leads the team that has created the university’s portfolio of digital stackable programmes for the business and management sector. T e programmes’ modules build into an accessible package that allows people to learn at their own pace and to the level that suits them best, and Graham is keen to discuss the options with local business owners who are looking to develop their staff .
Described as micro-credentials, the courses comprise
small, manageable learning units that can be combined to create accredited qualifi cations, through a range of certifi cation levels all the way up to a Master’s degree. T is format allows people to learn at their own pace, on demand, and in a way that fi ts around their professional and personal commitments. T e ability to upskill or reskill while continuing to work full-time is a major benefi t. With Cranfi eld’s online off er- ings, there’s no need to take a career break to further ones’ education. T is enables a practical, hands-on approach to executive development, making the learning experi- ence far more relevant and immediately applicable, and allowing people to apply what they learn in real time to the challenges they face at work. Graham explained: “It works for people because they are
in control, depending on their needs. So, if you take lead- ership as an example, it might be that someone undertakes the four-hour package on leadership and then decide that’s enough. Other people might decide at that stage that they want to carry on and build further sections into accredited programmes, right up to a Master’s degree.
