EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW

On the occasion of his latest release on Hot Creations and Nature Records, we had the pleasure of interviewing Lorenzo de Blanck, one of the most interesting Italian DJs and producers of the moment.

When and how did your career as a music producer begin? How did this journey start?

Before I began producing, I had the opportunity to DJ for a few years in clubs in my city. This allowed me to understand and read the dancefloor, focusing on music selection and mixing technique. Later, I felt the need to produce my music and play my tracks in my DJ sets. I felt this at a time when I wasn’t fully satisfied with the releases, so I started studying and experimenting with my own music.

On October 13, you released your first EP on Hot Creations, Jamie Jones’ leading label. How did you achieve this milestone?

Jamie has always supported my music, and I had the honor of releasing two EPs on Hottrax. Getting to Hot Creations is every DJ’s dream, and finally, this dream has come true.

Which clubs where you’ve performed have left a mark on you?

The pyramid of Cocoricò, Klein in Istanbul, and Privilege in Ibiza.

Who are your reference artists? Who got you into electronic music?

Without a doubt, my

since I started DJing is Carl Craig. I have many of his vinyl records, which I had autographed when I shared the console with him. As a DJ, I love Jamie’s style because he has his roots in house music but is always forward-looking, always searching for new music.

On September 29, your

was released on wAFF’s Nature Records, with a remix by Mahony. Tell us how this collaboration came about.

Last year, I played a 3-hour b2b set with wAFF at Buongiorno Classic; it was a crazy night, and we had incredible musical synergy. On that occasion, I played many of my unreleased tracks that caught his attention, and he asked me to release them on his label, “Nature”. So we can say that the EP was born during that unforgettable b2b.

Your tracks are constantly played by artists like Joseph Capriati, Marco Carola, Jamie Jones, Nic Fanciulli, Andrea Oliva, Matthias

three-track EP favorite producer

To deliver a great set, every DJ always needs new music. One of the fundamental characteristics of a DJ is mutual support. These artists consistently work, and having their support

the energy and drive to always do better.

planet.

When you’re not producing music or DJing, how do you spend your time? What are your hobbies?

I like being with friends, cycling, and traveling to see new new cultures.

Have you ever had unmet expectations regarding your music and work?

Sometimes I think a track I’ve produced is a hit, but it doesn’t get the results I hoped for. Other times, I get completely unexpected results. For

worldwide. How does this affect your life, both positively and negatively?

Traveling is one of the things I enjoy most; I think it’s one of the most exciting things that enrich life. Sometimes it’s challenging to manage schedules and organize trips, but during travels, I often work on my computer with headphones. So there are never any “dead” moments. Consider that my track “Hey Baby” on Hottrax was created on a plane en route to Cuba!
