COVER STORY

MARCO CAROLA: PIONEERING THE GROOVE, SHAPING THE FUTURE

In the vibrant city of Naples, amidst the Italo rhythms of the late 1980s, a young Marco Carola found himself drawn into a world that would come to define his life. It wasn’t just any club; it was a nexus of beats and lights, intimately tied to the renowned Radio Kiss Kiss. At the young age of 12, he stood in awe, eyes fixed on the DJ booth, absorbing every nuance of the tech symphony. The seeds of a destiny were sown, not by design, but by an unquenchable fascination.

Fast forward through the years, and Carola’s journey has been a testament to evolution and unwavering commitment to the “groove.” The pulse of his music, steeped in relentless energy and innovative sounds, remains a manifestation of his deep-seated belief in the power of percussion and baseline. It’s a philosophy that has seen him traverse through varied BPMs and explore diverse musical

landscapes.

“I’d say one thing that’s been a constant since the start of my career is the “groove.” I’ve always given top priority to the percussion and baseline in the music I choose or create. Melody, of course, is important, but you won’t find a record with a great melody but a terrible groove in my collection. Over the years of DJing, the main changes have been in the bpm and my open-min- dedness to play different music styles.”

Out of this crucible of passion, “Music On” emerged. A brainchild born of a desire for unadulterated expression, it was a bold leap into the unknown. From Miami to Dubai, New York to

Amsterdam, Carola’s musical quest transcended continents. “Music On Festival”

complete faith in the project and gave it my all. Looking back, I’m really glad I took the plunge, even though it meant sacrificing a lot of my time for producing new music. I was, and still am, focused on changing up my DJ sets every week with new music and edits I create.”

“It all started with my first event in Miami back in 2012, followed by a 7-year residency at Amnesia Ibiza, and now at Pacha. Within a year of launching Music On, I was already
