BRIDGING BOUNDARIES: MATHAME’S GLOBAL INFLUENCE

Mathame’s influence extends beyond the

European underground scene, reaching mainstream heights in the USA. They view their role as bridge builders with humility, emphasizing the importance of a clear vision. Their mantra of “New Dance for their

new Trance” encapsulates commitment to creating something

original and magical, consistently moving their audience to new realms.

“Building bridges is always a big team effort and also requires a clear vision. We are a continuous work in progress; let’s say so because actually, our will has always been to do something new, some- thing original, something unexpected, something aesthetically relevant and amazing, something that is never banal, something that reminds us of magic, something that can transport the listener

and the audience somewhere else.

New Dance for new Trance, it’s stuff like that; that’s always been our mantra, and that means even having pop acclaim welcome, in a sense, we always start with what moves us.”

MUSICAL ROOTS: FROM PIRATE RADIO TO “MEMO”

Rooted in a rich musical background shaped by records, cassette tapes, and their parents’ pirate radio station, Mathame’s unique sound finds its origins in a diverse library of inspirations. The desire to say something and think laterally, passed down by their parents, became the driving force behind their musical journey, culminating in the creation of “MEMO.”

“It has to be said that Dad and Mum’s radio station was crucial in the process because it gave us an endless library of music that we still use today. We have I don’t know how many thousands of cassettes, vinyl,

from which we

draw inspiration and sometimes do covers. I was too young to remember that experience, but I remember turntables at home, vinyl, and the love of music that my parents always passed on with gentle purity. But above all, what they passed on to us was the desire to say something, the desire to think outside the box. That’s the biggest lesson there is: faith in miracles, and that’s what happened. It cannot be that it is a miracle.”

“MEMO”: A SEVEN-YEAR CREATIVE JOURNEY

“MEMO” emerges as a culmination of seven years of work, a creative process filled with challen- ges, instinctive moments, and lightning-fast inspirations. The duo reflects on navigating the uncertainties of 2020, striving to keep anxieties at bay and focus on their internal reservoir of thoughts and unsaid expressions.
