ble for eligible rural business es located across Lancashire and in neighbouring parts of Greater Manchester. It will help farmers who are seeking to invest in new technologies, diversify or make onsite im
provements. Funding willalso be available for new or exist
ing small or micro enterprises looking to createjob opportu nities.
This programme will be
managed and delivered by Lancashire County Council
and is expected to be launched in June 2015. Projects fundedTn the
2009-2613 Rural Programme include Fiddlers Lancashire Crisps, who benefitted from funding to create a manufac turing facility at their family farm,and theOddChairCom- pany, who needed additional space to expand their busi ness. The funding will be giv
en out through local bod ies, known as Local Action Groups, including Lancashire North and Bowland, which covers part of Wyre, Lancas ter, Ribble Valley and Pendle. Each of these groups is made
up of representatives fromthe public, private and voluntary sectors who have spent the last year identifying local pri ority areas for funding. , The programme will ini
tially focus on farming and enterprise, and later thisyear will look to support forestry, tourism, culture & heritage* and community projects. You
