Simon Garner doesn't recall being involved in a game that culminated as dramatically as Clitheroe's victory overOssett Town. With five minutes of the fixture
© remaining at Shawbridge at the weekend, the Blues trailed to first half strikes from Steven Jeff and Josh Whiteley. But the hosts secured a sen sational comeback courtesy

minutes but the lads kept going and showed a lot of character to get the three points. “The only difference was
that we added goals to the per- formance at the end. For half- an-hour in the second half we were dominant and played the game in their half. ■ “We missed a few chances,'

Clitheroespin bowler Alex Hartley is ready to continue her return from the interna tional wilderness after being selected for England Women Academy's tour of Dubai.
The 21-year-old was part of the England set-up six years ago but has only come back into the fold in the last year. That return saw her form
part of the side that took on South Africa in the summer, and she is now preparing for another outing after head coach Lisa Keightley named her as one of 14 players to take on Australia in four 50-over matches and two Twenty20s in Dubai in a preamble to this summer’s Women’s Ashes. It went really quick ly when I was young. I didn’t really know what was going on, and by the time I realised, I was out of the programme. For the second consecutive week, Green’s reserves re turned from a difficult away match with a share of the

^ ’"'sure to get a footing in the game and they started to play
some decent football. All was going well until,
on 28 minutes, a swirling ball wasn’t dealt with and Chad- derton slotted the home side ahead. Mallett and Scott had
shown some early signs of- promise, and two minutes later the Green levelled when Darnell got the better of his man and played asuperb pass to Scott at the back post, who fired home. There was another scare for the home side when
youngster Mallett hitthepost with a great drive. The Fylde Coast outfit
fought back and forced three consecutive corners, but Joyce and his defenders saw the half out. The second half began
with the home side on the front foot, but, after soaking up five minutes of pressure, Darnell had a chance but his shot on the turn just cleared the bar. The home side were now forcing the issue and it was all
hands to the pump. Williams replaced Mallett, and new signing Gilmour replaced the injured Bolton. Cookson . and Holt were working hard to contain the Rovers mid- field playmaker, and while they weren’t seeing much of the ball, a superb defensive display from Cook and skip per Young saw the Green ride wave after wave of pressure. home side threw caution to the wind and forced a series ofcorners.
Young made a superb last-
ditch tackle and Cook ap peared from nowhere to head clearwhenagoalseemedcer-

now, I’m looking forward to the newseason and I can’t wait to get out to Dubai. “I’d love to get on and play,
get a few wickets and get my name out there. I’m still one of the new ones so it would be good tojump into the deep end and show th&t I’m good enough to play for England. “It would be a big step to

had to punch away a cross, and the ball was fired back past him, McCarthy doing well to block the effort on the line. This should have alerted
