A junior football club has raised £550 for a children’s charity through a series of sportsman’s dinners at Ewood Park, Blackburn. The Wilpshire Wanderers under fives section presented the cheque to Wilpshire-based Child Action Northwest fund raising volunteer Mandy Stableford at a training session o n . their grounds at Salesbury Memorial Hall.
The annual sportsman's dinner is a big event in the club’s cal endar and previous guest speakers have included Ray Parlour and Mat Le Tissier.. Homebase employee Debra Van Aarde showed her sister ly support quite literally to raisefundsforthecharilywho helped her sibling, Michelle Simpson, through a rare form ofcancer.

cember diagnosed with small cell cervical cancer, a rare and aggressive form of the disease that usually occurs in the’ lungs. Michelle started her first
round of chemotherapy in January, losing all her hair as a result of the treatment. Debra said: “I first thought
about shaving my own head when Michelle began to lose her hair, so I could at least go through some of the process with her. “I mentioned it to my fel-.
