Blackburn magistrates heard that driver James Ghry Sharp; had “nodded off” briefly twice before stopping at a level
. crossing, where his head fell fully onto his chest, his eyes closed and he was snoring. And the court heard that
two weeks earlier, also in Clit heroe, Sharp had been on his way to collect a fare when he crashed into a parked car in Moor Lane - a lapse He blamed on fatigue.

for the damrigerous driving charge was that Sharp’s driv ing had fallen well below the standard expected, but Mr Philip Turner (defending) suc cessfully argued it had been a momentary lapse in concen tration. • “It has always been thecase

passenger had said nothing to Sharp at the time and had remained in the taxi until her

ity suspended his permit and he took no issue with that,” said Mr Turner. “He will not be taking fares
again until he has been certi fied as fit bv his GP.”

Danny’s winning menu was: Formby asparagus, poached Bowland Forest free-range egg and hollandaise, wheat- fed Goosnargh guinea fowl leg kiev, scorched baby gem, sum mer pods and parsley shoots, Hesketh Bank strawberries, Simpson’s organic cream and Northcote’s garden mint.
