Teenage soprano Grace O’Malley, who wowed the crowds at Padiham Christ mas lights switch on, is the
s ta r attraction at a charity concert in Sabden tomorrow (Friday).
Grace (16) is starring in a
Christmas Variety Concert, “A Night Before Christmas”, at 7-30 pm in St Mary’s Com munity HaU.
The concert will also feature
Padiham’s Flat Cap Pack (Lancashire’s answer to the Rat Pack), the 50 Something
Theatre Co singing Christ mas, wartime and popular
songs and sketches, and en tertainment from Sabden’s

Householders in the Rib ble Valley are being warned about a company offering to
get their council tax band low ered for a fee.
The company has been
cold-calling householders in the Longridge and Chipping
area, offering to save them, money on their council tax.
Ribble Valley Council has
received some 50 calls from' ’ residents concerned about the company’s claims, and
is reminding householders
thattheycanactuallygettheir council tax reviewed for free. The council’s head of rev
enues and benefits, Mark Edmondson, said: “People believe thacompany might be working on behalf of the council, or the Valuation Of fice Agency, but this is not the case.
- . “We have been told the
company is charging an up front fee, followed by a suc
cess fee based on any saving achieved, but council taxpay ers can have their council tax band reviewed for free by the Valuation Office Agency. “Ifpeople think their house
is in the wrong council tax band, they should contact the
