They enjoyed being shown the mayoral robes and regalia, including the halbards, which are on display until they are paraded by the halbardiers when performing ceremonial duties in the town.

Food festival is in the running for top accolade ®
Clitheroe Food Festival is In the running for the Tour ism Event of the Year Award in the Lancashire Tourism Awards 2014. The awards ceremony
takes place in November at Blackpool Tower Ballroom and Ruth Connor, chief executive of Marketing Lancashire, which co-ordi nates the awards, said: “We have seen significant invest ment in this sector over the past 12 mpnths with over 1,000 newjobs being created. “The industry continues
to grow, with visitornumbers increasing by one million to 63 million and visitor spend contributing £3.5 billion- to the Lancashire economy.” The Spread Eagle, Sawley,
has reached the finals in the bed and breakfast accom modation section, while Rib- blesdale Park at Gisburn is a finalist in the holiday park/ holiday village category. Competing for the small
