IT was glorious weather for the drive-into office of the new lady captain of Clitheroe

Joan Bowker and Janet Bailey who also receivedgifts. Lady captain thanked all the ladies for taking part in the competitions and thanked everyone for the good wishes she has received. Jilly, who is also a keen tennis player and loves ski-ing and travelling worked for the

Captain-s drive-in the previous week, was a give and take, nine-hole stableford event. Thirty-nine ladies took part wth the eventual winner being Anne Hartley with 21 points, followed by Pam Lavery and Glenda Heanan (19), Catherine Podevyn (18), Jean Holt and Nancy Mortimer (17), Jane Hoyle, Susan Johnson, Jacqueline Bury and Kathleen Bithell (16). Winners of the twos were'Jean Holt and Pat Brennan.

THE wind and rain finally eased to allow Janet Halfoenney, the new Lady Captain of Stonyhurst Park Golf Club to hit a tremendous drive to ceremoniously mark the start of her year. The ladies of Stonyhurst enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of golf, prizes and a deli­


cious selection of homemade cakes, all baked by Lady Captain. The winner was Linda Ashworth with 20 points, second with 17 points was Margaret


McAllester and in third place was Lady Captain herself with a respectable 16 points, topping it off by being the only lady to score a two on the par 3 holes.
