Vauxhall service club has hit 100,000 mark


VAUXHALL MasterFit has just signed up its 100,000th service club member. The Vauxhall MasterFit Service Club


was only launched to Network Q custom­ ers in August, 2010, being extended to all Vauxhalls over two years of age, regard­ less of where they were bought from, in November. Over those 11 months, nearly 2,000


new members have been signing up every week. Not only is membership to the Vaux­


hall MasterFit Service Club free, it also entitles owners to discounts on parts, la­ bour and MOT testing... -Vehicles between two and three years

THE Audi A8 hybrid is a very spe­ cialist proposition, appealing to only a very tiny percentage of the total ex­ ecutive car market. For most A8 customers, most of the


time, a diesel model will make more sense, but for the few who can make the sums work in the hybrid’s favour there is little doubt that they will be rewarded with a technically intriguing and ingenious car. Apart from the subtle hybrid badging,


there is riot too much to betray the fact that this A8 can run on electric power. Audi spotters might notice the 18in.

possibility to scour the options list for the most jaw-dropping tech. One item that stands out is the Audi side


assist and lane assist system. It uses radar technology to detect vehicles in the A8’s blind spot, alerting the driver by illuminat­ ing an LED in the wing mirror. If the driver then indicates to change


lanes on that side, the warning LED grows brighter and flashes to attract the driver’s attention. Also part of this technology is the lane


assist function, which uses a small camera to detect the lane markings and sends a warning vibration through the steering wheel if the driver starts to drift across a line without indicating. Naturally, we will need a full UK road


test before we can pronounce a definitive verdict.


But in the meantime, the prospect of a


punchy hybrid A8 that can return 44mpg and which promises excellent refinement


and extremely low emissions is certainly beguiling.
