Dinner dance raises £12,000
MORE than £12,000 was raised and had been donated to Christies Hosptial from the proceeds of Samlesbury and District Young Farmers’ charity dinner dance and auction held to celebrate the club’s 75th anniversary. The evening took place at Ewood Park,
charity auction and items included 50 acres of chopping, buckraking and carting kindly donated by Mr Harry Wilson, five lots of different animal feed from local companies, a VIP trip around the JCB factory, eight various lots of prizes kindly donated by agricultural fertility companies and two-day deer stalking in Scotland kindly donated by Mr John Briggs, to name just a few and everyone was so generous in the bidding as well as extra donations on the night. President Graham Young said
“After the exciting atmosphere of the auction, members and friends danced into the night and had chance to catch up with friends. A fantastic night was had by all, it was lovely to see old and new faces celebrating the club’s success over the years.” Also during the evening 40 different

Operation targets school transport
MORE than a hundred vehi cles were stopped and checked by police and other agencies across Lancashire as part of a national road safety operation. Operation Coachman saw
officers from Lancashire Con stabulary, Lancashire County Council and the Vehicles and Operators Services Agency (VOSA) checking vehicles tak ing young people to schools and colleges at 11 sites across the county, including Ribbles- dale High School Technology College, in Clitheroe. A total of 110 buses, coach
