DESIGNATION OF KIRK MILL. CONSERVATION AREA


Ribbie Valley Borough Council hereby gives notice of its designation of Kirk Mill Conservation Area, Chipping on 4 February 2010 and an extension to the Conservation Area on 7 April 2011. The Council has determined that this area is of special architectural or historic interest and that it is desirable to preserve or enhance its char­ acter or appearance.


The principal effects of the conservation area designa­ tion are as follows:


1. The Council is under a duty to prepare proposals to ensure the preservation or enhancement of the area.


2. Consent must be obtained from the Council for the demolition of most buildings in the area.


3. Special publicity must be given to planning applica­ tions for development in the area.


4. In carrying out any function under the planning Acts (and, in particular, determining applications for planning permission and conservation area consent) the Council and the Secretaiy of State are required to take into account the desirability of preserving or enhancing the )t the area.

5. The details as to the limits of what works may be carried out without planning permission are different.


6. Six weeks notice must be given to the Council before works are carried out to most trees in the area.
