ALTHOUGH Ribble .Valley Borough Council collects your council taxi the lion’s share is passed oii to Lancashire County Council, paying for things like education,

the. major roads network and social serv ices." , ‘ ■ However, the borough council does keep

part of the money to pay for the services it provides locally. If you want to see how that money is spent and what the council does on your behalf, the information is set out in

, the Ribble .Valley Borough Council Annual Report.

:: Just published, the le-page report sets out the business of the council in clear and easy- to-understand language, outlining what the authority has achieved in the past year and its plans for the future. ; It includes sections on how the council is

said: “From the Royal opening of the £3.5m. Clitheroe Castle Museum Complex to the formation of town teams to take forward ambitious proposals for the future economic prosperity of Clitheroe and Longridge, the council has been at the forefront of some groundbreaking work. — “Ribble Valley residents quite rightly

expect high levels of service and our dedi cated staff have proved time and again that they are willing to go the extra mile for our customers. In fact, the Government s 2009 Place Survey revealed that our residents were the most satisfied in the country. •“All this is good.news,” added Coun.

• Ranson, “but we are not complacent. The coming years will be particularly difficult for local government, Ribble Valley Borough Council included. “We are waiting to find out the extent of

our reduction in Government funding and will be looking carefully at how we can con tinue to provide effective services in a pe riod of financial restraint. This is a challenge we must and will meet, if we are to meet the expectation of our residents.” - The report is ayailable from the council’s

communications unit on 01200 414483, can be collected in person at the Ribble Valley Borough Council Offices in Church Walk, Clitheroe, or viewed online at the council’s website: www.ribblevalley.gov.uk -
