THE recently formed Ribble Valley Knights basketball team came out on top in their first home match, beating Stonyhurst College 58-43 in a friendly.

: The Knights immediately found themselves outnumbered as Stonyhurst arrived in force, with a large squad of 14 players.


; ;; Both teams traded baskets in the opening quarter with the Knights emerging slightly ahead 16-12. Matt Taylor helped get the Knights off to a good start with sbt points in


the quarter, but that was countered by Stonyhurst’s Michael Li who had 6 for the visi- tors.

: / The second quarter proved to be the turning point as the home team-pressed on as the visitors lost their scoring touch. Despite this, Stonyhurst managed to hold the Knights to 14 points in the quarter, but Stonyhurst themselves could only muster 6 ' which sent the teams in to the half at 30-18.
