.. in the Clitheroe Circuit and anywhere that ■ would invite him within a 30-mile radius.; Eric once again strapped his cross to his

back and walked to raise money for Whal ley Methodist Church, this time walking and witnessing his way around the 45-mile Pendle Way and raising £2,037. Eric was a passionate man of God and a

devoted husband, father and grandfather. He had a natural way with children and young people and, during his retirement, enjoyed the company of his four grandchil dren and two great grandsons.

- He suffered ill health in 2001 following surgery, but regained full health and threw himself enthusiastically into his many ac tivities., Eric suffered a stroke in February of this

year and then in March his beloved Ann died. After'three months in hospital, Eric moved into the Manor House Care Home in Chatbum. Although his memory and speech had

been affected by the stroke, Eric’s solu tion to those times when words failed him was to burst into song - either a wartime favourite or a much loved hymn! : As summer turned to autumn, Eric’s health deteriorated again and shortly after his 87th birthday he passed away. ,

WORKSHOP: Instruction is given on felt-making, (s)

CLITHEROE Castle Mu seum was the setting for a workshop focusing on the an cient art of felt-making. ; Ribble Valley artist Angela

Baptie taught participants how to create their own felt painting, which they were then able to take home. Angela, who currently has

work featured in Clitheroe Castle Museum’s Inspired exhibition, said: “Raw wool fibre is a wonderful medium for creating individual works ofart. “The wool can be teased out and applied to a base.

.much like one would ap ply paint to canvas, creating

. depths of colour, interest and is especially good for more abstract pieces.” Following on from the suc

cess of this workshop, a cou ple of one day felt-making courses will be held on Sat urday, January 29th, and Sat urday, February 26th, from 10-30 a.m. until 4 p.m. in The Rowland Room at Clitheroe Castle Museum. Booking is essential. Any

one interested should call 07789545541.
