■ LOCAL*boy-Tom Wolfenden, from Grindlefon, a former pupil of Grindle- ton Primary- School, was recently put forward for thevUnder 11 Northern Preparatory School Barbarian rugby trials.
; Torn, ; now; a pupil at Giggleswick Junior School, was one of 36 boys from : 14 other schools, hoping to be selected : The trials were held on November 7th at Sedbergh School, and consisted of a rnorning session .of skills and a srnall sided, game, and then, following lunch,
'a 3x20-minute thirds game was played, allowing the boys to try out their first and second choice positions. The. five
.selectors then faced the difficult job of having to choose 15 out of the possible 36 players to form the North Team. Tom was one of those 15 boys chosen
and played in his first game for the North - Team against the ’ Midlands Team at 'Worksop College on Sunday.
