A JOINT scheme to provide addi­ tional sporting facilities in Clitheroe a t a cost of around

Centre and Ribble Valley Borough Council have been looking at a joint plan to extend the Edisford Road leisure centre and rebuild the existing football changing rooms. But due to ris­ ing costs they have decided the joint- scheme is no longer viable in the current


economic climate. However, both Roefield and the


coimcil say they will work independent­ ly to find lower cost alternatives. A joint statement issued on behalf of


the council and the centre said: “Both parties remain committed to providing leisure facilities in the Ribble Valley and have decided to consider atlerna- tive lower cost solutions to meet their individual requirements with the finan­ cial resources available." It added that
