Childminders set top standard for care and commitment

CHILDMINDERS, who belong to the Ribblesdale ■Childminding Network, are celebrating the achieve ment of their sixth “Out standing” member. The network has 14 mem

bers, over a third of whom have achieved the Outstand ing grade from Ofsted. , Members are also celebrat-

. ing the network’s two-year anniversary of approval as a National Childminding .Asso ciation of England and Wales (NOMA) Quality Assured Children Come First (CCF) network. I t is currently seeking

accreditation by the NCMA to allow childminders to offer Nursery Education Grants to Ribble Valley families. Vivien Nowell, childmind

ing network co-ordinator, said: “Our registered child minders have developed their practice in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYES) and been able to

-achieve the Outstanding grade in their Ofsted inspec tions. “The network childminders

have made a commitment to helping children learn and develop, and the introduction of the EYFS has had a posi tive impact on their practice. “Well done to those child

minders, who have achieved the Outstanding grade. You are among just six per cent in the country achieving th i s , grade.” “By joining the network

they have made a commit ment to continuing profes-. sional development, the NCMA’s ten quality stan dards, and achieving their aims,” added Ms Nowell Sue Wilson-Bames, NCMA

CCF Accreditation inspector, said: “It is clear that having the support of a dedicated and informed childminding network co-ordinator is key to the quality, growth and suc cess of the network.” • Childminders belonging

to the Ribblesdale Childmind-. ing Network are highly skilled childcare professionals whose aim is to provide quality assured childcare within a reg istered home-based setting for children from birth to eight years, in the Ribble Valley.
