Exhibition tribute to village’s Fallen
A SPECIAL tribute to The Fallen of the village is being staged in Chatbum Librmy. Branch manager Christine
Woodworth has collated infor mation for an exhibition about Chatbum soldiers who died in the two world wars. It is a fitting tribute to the
men who are named on the war memorial in the church yard at Christ Church and on the memorial plaque in. the village's Methodist Church.

Valley falls silent in honour of war heroes

la procession led by I Clitheroe Town Band and
I including both mayors, MP [Nigel Evans, civic digni-
taries, standard bearers and representatives from vari ous uniformed organisa tions made its way to the war memorial in Clitheroe Castle grounds. During the act of
remembrance, Coun. Jones, Coun. Robinson and Mr Evans were among those who Imd wreaths of poppies on the war memorial. Two citations synony
mous with acts of remem brance were read - the Kohima Epitaph: “When you go home tell them of us and say, for their tomorrow, we gave our today”; and Laiu-ence Binyon’s Exhor tation: “They shall grow not old as we that are left grow old. Age shall n o t weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going
