.••has launched its “girls’ night out with a difference’.’, which this year' will take place on Saturday, June 20th, beginning at 10 p.m. This year’s walk will be like no other,

_ with more 1,000 walkers expected to take part and organisers urging them to get dressed up in their sparkly gladrags and glitter.. ‘ :The “Silver Starlight Walk” is an eight-jmile ladies only, fully marshalled night-time walk, start- ing.and ending at Ewood Park, Blackburn. To mark the Hospice’s ' silver anniversary, the organisers are bringing a touch of silver and

sparkle to the event by asking all walkers to wear a silver tiarai Julia Denwer, events organiser a t the hospice, is keen for everyone to embrace this year’s theme and really make the walk memorable, both for the participants and for ; spectators. .

. -

■ “This year, we want to bring a real element of fun and occasion to

• the walk, and as i t’s ladies only and our silver anniversary, what better way than bringing in lots of silver and sparkle,” she said. “The night-time walk is always

very special and, as all the walkers are walking for a common purpose,' the sense of occasion is. magnifi cent. This year, it will be even bet ter and having over 1,000 ladies walking through the night, all decked out in tiarias and glitter

. will be truly magical. We want the walk to be as girly and sparkly as

possible, so please use your imagi nation, whether i t ’s a silver, wig, spray-on glitter, we don’t mind, as long as it’s silver and sparkly.” ■ The aim of the walk is to raise

money, for the East Lancashire Hospice, which provides care and support for the people of Ribble Valley, Blackburn, Darwen, Hyn- dburn and the Ribble Valley. The operational costs of the hospice are more than £2.4m. each year and it relies heavily on donations and fund-raising events.

■ Last year, more than 500 walk ers took part, raising more than £51,000. This year, th e event organisers are aiming to double the number of walkers. Anyone wanting to join the walk

can get a registration form by call ing the hospice on 01254 342847 or sending an e-mail to: sharon.crym- ble@eastlancspct.nhs.uk
