-has launched an urgent-yuletide ■ appeal which aims to raise nearly £lmilIion to help treat thousands of - sick and injured pets over the 12 days of Christmas. - , .PDSA vets treated 18,533 poorly
pets during Christmas last year - an all time record for the charity.
.
. And PDSA predicts that Christmas. 2008 will be another record-breaker, so has launched an urgent appeal for: donations, to help treat poorly pets throughout the festive season. If the numbers of- pets treated are the same as last year, PDSA will need to raise £947,000 in time for Christmas. “Over the past year there has been a-
lot of talk about the credit enmeh and possible recession,'- and when times are hard for people, they’re hard for our pets too,” says PDSA Head of Mar keting, John Cole. “This Christmas/ we predict there will be more pets than ever whose owners just cannot afford the treatment they desperately need.”
• As well as proving free veterinapt treatment to the pets of people in need, PDSA promises to help any ani mal that is brought into a PetAid hos pital in a life-threatening emergency. Pets are always put before pounds, so the charity urgently needs donations to keep going. .

figure is 50 per cent higher than last year and our medicines, dressings and equipment have all increased in price too. "
