- I t has many very attractive tunes and has parts -for the congregation to join in the singing. About 65 singers will be taking part, including soloists Yvonne Hartlebury (soprano), Ben Fourie (boy soprano), Ian Foster (tenor). Miles Leadbeater (bass), Johanna Smith (soprano) and Kate Poole (alto). Formed around six-years ago, the Ribble Val

ley Choir’s first major event was with Clitheroe Town Band for the “Last Night of the Proms” concert in August 2003. The choir appeared

• again at this event in 2005 and 2007. As an “occasional choir”, it does not have a regular rehearsal commitment, but comes

• together to rehearse for just a few weeks before each specific musical events. For each singer, a

rehearsal tape or CD. is usually provided for practise at home. The choir has a list of 120 or so local singers and everyone on the list is in-vited in good time to sing a t a forthcoming event. There is an open policy regarding the ability

faith and race of singers and the choir welcomes those with disabilities. Ribble Valley Choir is also supported by Clitheroe Town Council and Ribble Valley Council. I t usually rehearses in Trinity Church, Clitheroe, and the choir’s size

depends on the event and .venue, but is usually between 40 and 65 singers. • The Musical Director is Steuart Kellington

and anyone who would like more information on the choir and future events can contact him on 01254 248855; or Leon Saberton on 01200 425988.
