Caroline’s solution to toddlers’ tantrums

CRYING babies and toddler tantrums could be a thing of the past thanks to Ribble Valley
new mum Caroline Ashworth. Caroline, who is mum to five-
month-old Alfie James, has set up Hullabaloo Kids offering a range of sessions including baby, play, baby sign, infant massage, mother and baby yoga, toddler movement and dance. . The classes, which are held 'during school term time, cater for. 0-4 year
olds. “They are specifically designed to
stimulate little minds and exercise little bodies, promote bonding and are great fun for all involved,” Caro line explained. A former dancer and children’s

entertainer with years of experience working with young children, Caro line said: .“During the baby sign ses sions babies learn how to express their needs through the use of signs

such as milk, sleep, play and hug.- Classes are known to boost self- . esteem and self-confidence, reduce f rustration levels and assist with parent-baby, bonding.” . Caroline used signing with her
son, who at the age of five-months can now sign for milk.- . “I t helps me to understand my
babies’ thoughts and needs and I ’m ■ sure now I will be lucky enough not to go through the terrible toddler tantrums often caused when babies are n o t able to make themselves: understood.” " , . ' Meanwhile, through Caroline’s
baby play sessions, babies and par ents can participate in activities sensitive to their needs. _ “Activities are s timulating for

Calf’s Head marks its 10-year success story
THE owners of a popular rural hotel on the brink of closure in the 1990s have celebrated 10 years a t the
helm. Pam and Chris JVfedley, pictured above, took on the Calf’s Head in Worston in 1998 when i t was on the
verge of shutting its doors. I t is now one of the busiest eating establishments in
the Ribble Valley, and the couple celebrated their decade and success with a private party a t the hotel.
■ The Calf’s Head is over 100 years old and on the site of a 400 year-old ale farmhouse. • Adding a conservatory, expanding the kitchens and
