Mike's music now on CD

A MUCH-MISSED musician who left the Ribble Valley around seven years ago h a s ' released his first CD in his new home town of Alcester, War- ■wickshire. Mike Oldfield (61), who lived

in Grindleton with his family, was a regular on the Ribble Val ley music scene, playing his gui ta r and singing in the pubs and clubs. ■ ; ^ : He was sad to leave the area

and his many friends here, but clearly retains fond memories as one- of the- tracks on his CD is the local favourite..“Pendle, Old

Pendle”. Luckily his music and willing

ness to perform soon made him good friends in his new home town and profits from his CD, “Streets of Alcester’’, will go to local good causes. When living,in Grindleton

Mike (pictured) performed all over Lancashire, including regu lar spots at the Craven Heifer and the Swan and Royal, Clitheroe, and the Pendle Hotel, Chatburn. His job as a m il ita ry sales

manager takes him around the globe and wherever Mike goes his guitar goes too,, the two of them ready to take to the stage whenever a chance arises. Even on holiday, customers at

the local; tavernas are soon singing along to an impromptu concert! :: His proud-as-punch daughter

Beth, who now lives in Rams- bottom, said: “Dad’s music goes down well with old and young alike and half-an-hour into his acoustic sessions-you can ^ a r - antee that the whole pub will be

, singing along. . -“I t was actually my granddad
