Park’s cash for The Christie
ANOTHER year has passed and mobile home owners at the Three Rivers Woodland Park, in West Bradford, are still raising money for The Christie hos pital in Manchester. Last Saturday evening saw
another cheque, this time for a whopping £6,788.36, presented to Christie representatives by Mr Tobin the Magic Man and Zehara's Urban Gypsies - con te s tan ts who appeared on ITV’s “Britain’s Got Talent”. The money will go towards The Christie’s young oncology unit, where teenage cancer patients are treated. An enjoyable evening includ
ed a display of dancing by the Urban Gypsies and was well attended, with guests from West Bradford Parish Council and Mrs Myra Clegg, a long term fund-raiser in the area. A children’s Hallowe’en
fancy dress competition took - place, a raffle and auction boosted the fund-raising and supper was provided., Mrs Beryl Statham, secrer
tary for the fund-raising group at the Three Rivers Park, said:. “Even in these hard times, peo
ple will still try to give what;
.they can for a worthwhile cause like The Christie. We’re very pleased with this latest donation.” To date the grand to tal now given to them is
, £56,900 and Saturday evening saw another £344 raised,-which
.will start off another year. Christie regional appeals offi cer Jacky Plant,-said: “The residents of' Three Rivers Woodland Park are amongst our most loyal supporters and every year they turn out to have a good time and raise
money for our cause'. They’ve excelled themselves this year and we’d like to say a big thank you.” Our picture shows the entertainers a t Saturday’s event presenting the cheque to Christie respresentatives Jacky Plant and Carl Shape, (s)

: • ; “We want senior citizens to have a safe and' i secure place to gather and to enjoy a range of ; indoor and outdoor activities,-enjoy socialis-'
