A sunny bonus for ramblers’ group
A BEAUTIFUL sunny day was a bonus for Clitheroe Ramblers on their walk up Farleton Fell. : Eighteen walkers set off up the North-fac
ing slope of Farleton Fell. They were soon rewarded by panoramic views of Grange and the coast, the Lake District hills and Ingle- borough. The limestone pavements and short turf of the fell are a pleasure to walk on and are home to many wild flowers including early purple orchids. The route then joined part of the Lime
stone Link path, which skirts Hutton Roof Crags, where a tree pipet was seen. After lunch, the group descended to the hamlet of Hutton Roof and followed field paths around Hutton Roof Crags to Plain Quarry. The route passed through woodland to Dal
ton and by minor road and field paths to Clawthorpe. From there it was on to the motorway bridge and the Lancaster canal, where two proud parents were shovting off six cygnets. The canal bank was followed back to the
parking place, passing the spot where the motorway completely blocks the canal. The varied terrain, abundant flowers and the sun shine made a very enjoyable day out. .
