Clinic visitors look just gorgeous!
VISITORS to a Clitheroe cosmet ic clinic were “looking and feeling gorgeous” after a special event. A series of seminars created by
actress Debbie Arnold and her business partner, Annette Gard ner, were launched a t The York. Clinic. The pair were on hand through
out the beauty-filled pamper day to offer advice on various treat ments and therapies.
Fifty guests who visited the
clinic over three sessions enjoyed a glass of Champagne and canapes, as well as being given an insight into the many treatments available at the centre. The York Clinic’s six treatment
rooms offered a variety of differ ent treatments, there were demon strations to watch and special offers to take advantage of. Practice manager Janet Barker
said the event had proved such a success th a t another one w ill probably be held in the New Year.; She added: “We were really; thrilled as the event created such; a buzz. All the guests had a great! time and got some good advice.” Pictured a t the seminar are,

“YOU can make a difference.” This is the message from police
in the Ribble Valley as part of a Special recruitment drive taking place tonight. • This week, people from all walks of life are being encouraged to make a difference to their commu nity, as part of a countywide “Spe cial” recruitment tour of Lan cashire. Today, the Constabulary’s “Spe
cials” recruitment team is offering members of the public a behind- the-scenes insight into the work of Special Constables. There is also an opportunity to
hear presentations from existing Specials and a chance to talk with the police on a one-to-one basis. Becoming a Special Constable
can allow members of the public to really get involved and make a dif ference to their community and it can also offer a great sense of achievement and valuable experi
ence for career development. The Special Constabulary has seen more than 370 people come togeth er to offer their support to Lan cashire’s communities. Special Constables have full
police powers and perform the same duties as regular officers. These can range from general patrol, to the policing of football matches and road incidents. With a wide range of incidents
no two shifts are the same. Specials wear the same uniform as police officers and are issued with the same equipment. Aged between 18-and-a-half and
50 years, Specials work flexible hours with a minimum require ment of four hours per week. They provide their time and expertise without financial reward and are fully respected members of the police force. Insp Andrea Bradbury said: “In Eastern Division, we currently
have 40 Special Constables and in addition, four have gone on to become regular police officers. “We do not ask for specific qual-'
ifications, but look for candidates with honesty and integrity, a posi tive approach, ab il ity to work within a team, a willingness to learn new skills and to develop existing ones. “The high visibility of the Spe
cial Constabulary is of real impor tance to the policing in our com munities and speaks volumes about the dedication, skills, train ing and professionalism of the Spe cial Constabulary officers.” The recruitment event is being
held at Clitheroe Police Station today between 6 and 8 p.m. If you are interested in becoming
a Special Constable, or for more information, contact the recruit ment department on 01772 410313 or 01772 410366 log onto
