Final preparations are steaming ahead for this year's Chipping Steam Fair, which returns with a bang this May Spring Bank Holiday weekend.
The annual event, now in its ninth year, will see thousands of steam fair enthusiasts flood into the picturesque Green Lane Showground, in Chipping and enjoy the var ied range of attractions on offer.
The main attractions this year include Rolls-Royce engines from classic Second World War aircrafts such as Beaufighter, Shackleton and an Alvis Leonides radial engine from a Percivai Sea-Prince and two R. R. Merlins.

The popular three-day fair, which promises something for the young and old alike, will feature other activities to help make it a weekend to remember. This includes a dog agility team, karate team, jazz bands, heli copter rides, Irish dancers and arts and crafts, a steam bus on Sunday and a fair ground to keep the youngsters entertained. In addition to all of this, there will be a large collection of outside stalls. The ancient remains of Sawley Abbey will provide a backdrop to Sawley Art Group's annual exhibition of paintings in the vil lage hall. From Saturday to Monday, between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. refreshments will be served and admission is free. The gardens at Colthurst Hall and Garden Cottage will be open to the public on Sunday afternoon, with proceeds in aid of the Craven Trust. Teas will be available and the properties are situated on Cross Lane, on the outskirts of Waddlngton. If the weather is fine, the Bank Holiday weekend will provide the perfect opportu nity to wander around Clitheroe's Castle Grounds and take in the view from the newly restored ancient Keep.
