By the time the trig point was reached, the weather had deterio rated. In addition to the strong ivinds and driving rain there were hailstones and thick mist, which made route-finding difficult.
The walkers struggled along
the ridge and down Boar Clough to Upper Ogden Reservoir where they had a quick sandwich in the
shelter of a wall. After crossing the dam, the route climbed over Driver Height to return to Sab den through the fields via Sabden Fold and Stainscomb.

when the group reached the shel ter of Ogden Clough, but it was a wet and muddy group of walkers who arrived back in Sabden look ing forward to hot baths.
