Nathan’s ambition is to represent his country in the 2012 London Olympics! Recalling the worrying time Nathan
was in hospital, Alan (43) and Liona (41) said: “When he was born, it was touch- and-go at one point. “I t was a very anxious time for the
family as Nathan was our first child and we were just scared of the outcome. “Before delivery, medical staff said either the mother or baby would survive.
but Nathan was a fighter and proved everyone wrong.” A former pupil of St Augustine’s RC
High School, Nathan lives with his par ents and 15-year-old brother, Tom, in Pasturelands Drive, Billington. Despite suffering from psoriasis (a skin
condition that produces red, thickened scaley patches), he leads a completely normal and healthy life. He is currently studying A-levels in
PE, geography, French and psychology at St Mary’s College, in Blackburn, and hopes to go to university in September and undertake a three-year degree course in sport science. Over the years, Nathan’s progress has
come on leaps and bounds and his main hobby is running. Since the age of eight, he has competed in several regional and national competitions, picking up silver ware on the way. In fact, the talented young athlete is
ranked in the top five runners of the region in the Under-20s category. He is a member of the newly-formed Ribble Val ley Athletics Club and is coached by Don Lennon - the uncle of Tottenham mid fielder Aaron Lennon. But this is not the end of Nathan’s
sporting talents. The teenager, who is an ex-member of Hyndburn Athletics Club, has his sights set on representing Great Britain in the men’s 800m. or 1,500m. categories for the 2012 London Olympics. He said: “I’ve always enjoyed running
