YOUNGSTERS from Ribblesdale Children’s Centre visited a local nature reserve during a recent Wildlife Welly P\m Day. Held in the half-term holidays in

conjunction with nature reserve officer Phil Dykes from the Lan cashire Wildlife Trust, 78 adults and children took part enjoying a variety of activities in Crossbills Quarry, Clitheroe, for free.

These included an “Un-nature

Trail” , on which children were encouraged to investigate the local surroundings by spotting objects hidden in bushes that would not normally be found on a nature trail. Other activities were badge mak ing, mask making and a variety of other games. The aim of the fun day was to make families more aw^e of the quarry and encourage

people to get out and about in the half-term holiday. Ribblesdale Children’s Centre

extended services manager Fiona Owen, said: “Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive and it is hoped that similar events will take place in the future during the school holidays.” Our picture shows some of the children who enjoyed the fun day. (s)

A FLORAL demonstration with a difference was organised by mem bers of Clitheroe Lions Club to raise funds for the worthwhile charity Home-Start Rlbble Valley. The renowned florist, Carl

Wilde, who hails from Hudders field, has appeared on GMTV and This Morning and in his flamboy ant and extrovert way created a variety of floral arrangements on a festive theme using exotic and beautiful flowers and greenery. Throughout the evening,

Oakhill College, Whalley, began with a glass of wine on arrival and ended with a mince pie served by members of the Lions and the five fantastic arrangements created by Carl during the evening were raf fled.

The lucky winners, however, had
