: guest a t Gawthorpe Hall, Padiham.

The visitors’ book for 1850 has been found, but Miss Bronte did not sign it. However, visitors

from

Moscow, China and other far away places havesi^ed the book.

Because of its age the visitors’ book needs rebinding and it is hoped someone read ing this will offer advice on preserving it for future genera tions.

Anyone who can help should call Mrs Kari na Lancaster on 0125 826841.

Folk music Members and friends of Mitton WI enjoyed an evening of music and entertain ment for the New Year celebrations.

President Mrs Doreen Balshaw welcomed the folk group Last Chance, whose mem bers travel round Lancashire providing music for group meet ings and social occa sions.

After a delicious hot supper, provided by Lisa’s Catering, of Clitheroe, everyone was in party mood singing and dancing to the music of the folk group, who can be contacted through Sean Heffernan (tel. 01254 247427).

Winners of the quiz were Mr and Mrs Lockwood. ■

Mrs Balshaw thanked, everyone who had contributed to make it such an amusing and colourful evening of entertainment.

The next meeting will be held on February 1st at 7-45 p.m. in Whalley Methodist Church hall.
