A COMEDIC farce where anything that could go wrong does go wrong is the latest production from a talented band of local players.

“Don’t Dress for Dinner” is the title of

the comedy, to be staged by the St Mary’s Parish Church Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society from Wednesday, Octo ber 11th to Saturday the 14th. The action takes place in the living

room of a French country house, where Bernard waits to entertain his chic Parisian mistress, Suzy, for the weekend. He has arranged a cordon bleu cook, invited his friend Robert as an alibi and is

Camoletti’s play is sure to have audiences rolling in the aisles. It will be staged night ly at 7-30 p.m. at the St Mary’s Centre, in Church Street, Clitheroe, and tickets are available from the centre (Tel: 01200 427162) or on the door. Our picture shows cast members, front

Delights of the Riojas 0.1.1™. EGG AND PEAS with Natalie Cox

A COLLEAGUE at work, N a ta lie Cox, returned from her holidays in Menorca with this recipe to share with readers. Natalie, her husband, Chris, their two children, Lois and Aaron, pictured, together with Natalie’s par ents stayed in a villa in Es Castell, near to cap

ital Mahon. They all enjoyed eating out as well as making

the occasional meals in the ■villa. Among all the dishes in Menorcan cuisine,

pride of place goes to shellfish and fresh fish. Because it is an island, Menorca lives in perma nent contact with the sea, allowing it to enjoy a

large variety of seafoods. The “Caldereta” (stew) of lobster is

undoubtedly one of the most appreciated dish es. Not far behind are three recipes, character istic of the island, which can be found in many restaurants - stuffed squid, “perol” of baked cuttlefish and baked fish with potatoes. Typical meat dishes are stews of beef, pork,

lamb or rabbit. A large variety of sausages are produced here too. . Other products typical of the island are

“Mahon-Menorca” cheese, maid mainly from cows’ milk and bearing its own denominacion controlee, and gin, which is made in a still, a legacy of the British occupation of Menorca. , This recipe has been taken from the book

“La Cuina de Menorca’’ and made by Ana Tor- rontegui, and Natalie found it to be the ideal lunchtime meal for the children as well as adults, served with the local crusty bread.

Ingredients (Serves four)

• ® 4 decilitres stock or water

® 2 tomatoes ® 1 green pepper • 2 onions ® 4 cloves garlic ® olive oil ® sprig parsley * 1 tbsp sugar 9 salt

Lodge is a deceptively spacious home brimming over with period features.

disposal. A separate utility room is plumbed for a washing machine and also has a walk-in pantry. Also on the ground floor are a stylish

dining room and the fourth bedroom, which would make an excellent study, while stairs from the hallway lead to a two-compartment cellar, with fitted

units and worktops. The lounge is on the first floor making the most of won derful views. An open fire and elegant built-in display cabinet are just two fea tures of this room. All three bedrooms on this floor offer
