Student George hopes for triple

Still not hitting energy efficiency targets
authorities across the North West are set to miss the target. The figures, published by DEFKA show that only 12 out of 43 councils in the North West are currently on course. Kibble Valley Borough Council has had
an energy efficiency improvement of 9.76% since 1996 - ahead of many other councils, but below the required standard. To be on target councils should now be achieving an 18% improvement.

THE general manager of Mit- ton Hall Country House Hotel took her wedding vows at her place of work. Miss Kachael Jane Smith
tied the knot with Mr Frank Hindle during a civil wedding ceremony at the hotel. The bride is the daughter of
Mr Malcolm Stuart Smith, of Colne, and the late Mrs Mary Smith. The bridegroom, a college
lecturer and keen golfer, is the son of Mr and Mrs J. Hindle, of Chapel Street, Rishton. Given away by her father,
the bride wore a black and white, heavily beaded gown with a detailed train and car ried a shower bouquet of Singa pore orchids. Her bridesmaids were Elli
Howarth, Karen and Zoe Cooper, as well as Andrea and Megan Credland. They all wore black ballerina length chiffon skirts with satin bustiers and shoe string straps and carried bouquets of hand- tied white roses. Best man was Patrick
Maher and groomsmen were Liam Hindle and Graham Cooper. George Howarth acted as the page boy. Toastmaster at the black
and whitethemed wedding reception, also at the hotel, was Mr Rodney Gibson. The couple honeymooned in

Concerned dog owner on wounding charge
A MAN who was concerned about the disappearance of his dog ended up injuring a man in a park. Andrew Farrington's view was that the
victim had taken the dog and he confront ed him in the park. The injured man sus
tained a two-centimetre cut to his hand. Farrington (39) of Whalley Koad, Lang-
ho, appeared for sentence at Preston Crown Court after previously admitting unlawful wounding. Judge Anthony Kussell QC told Farring
ton that the offence was indeed serious. He said the case was unusual and had
occurred when he was under stress about the disappearance of his dog. Farrington was sentenced to 40 weeks’ inprisonment, suspended for 12 months.
